We all know what is going on with the economy and specifically the housing market right now, but this is not the time nor place to discuss such things. So Non-Profit Organizations like Habitat for Humanity are really in a need for the contributions provided by you and me. For those who don’t know, HfH is an international organization devoted to building “simple, decent and affordable” housing. With volunteers coming in on their spare time to construct houses that are then sold at no profit. Now providing donations to such a good cause could only be better with the addition of one thing. Cars.

The Show for a Cause did just that. With the help of the Alderwood Mall over 100 cars came out to have a good clean day in the sun and show off their stuff. And a great selection of cars at that, for those who didn’t come out I can summarize it quickly: R34 Skyline, Evolution 1, Right hand drive RX-7 and more. Not to mention the amazing quality of some of the clubs that came out. World One brought out their gaggle of Subaru’s including my personal favorite, the brown Subaru Wagon that looks like it is about ready to eat small children.

Something that is also always guaranteed to bring people out is free stuff. And The Show for a Cause was no stranger to that. A special thanks especially to Phantasy Kolors, who donated TWO (yes two!) $2,000 gift certificates towards bodywork of your choice! Big congratulations to the winners of those prizes (although I won a small model Scion tC, who’s laughing now?). In order to get into the raffle people were required to purchase raffle tickets. The proceeds were then all donated to HfH. All in all they received more than $3,000 in donations.

Aside from a few hiccups along the way, the trip up north went along without a hitch. And the show went even more smoothly. Putting on a show for the first time is always tough, you don’t know if people will come and if people will have a good time. The Show for a Cause accomplished all of those fantastically well. And as long as there are no more unforeseen near fire’s on the porch, I can only hope it happens again next year.
